Why This Foot Breaks

The original feet were injection molded in the late 1980s, and three decades on that plastic has gone brittle — these boards routinely turn up with feet already snapped off, missing, or crumbling from age related degradation. The other common failure is quieter: the detent wears smooth, so the foot no longer holds its deployed position and folds flat under the weight of the keyboard. This design addresses the second problem directly — the open and closed detents were reworked to seat more positively than a worn original, while keeping the stock deployment angle and appearance.
