Why This Tab Breaks

The release tab on the extension wand is a small, frequently-used plastic lever that locks and unlocks the wand from the floor brush base. Over time, repeated flexing and release cycles cause the tab to fatigue, crack, and eventually break off. Once broken, there's no way to secure the extension wand — you're forced to wrap the cord around it to keep it from falling. Shark does not sell this tab separately, making a full extension wand replacement ($20–34) the only official option until now.
