Why This Part Strips Out

• The side brush mount is the small plastic piece that presses onto the gearbox shaft and drives the side brush rotation on every cleaning cycle. Each time the side brush is replaced — which iRobot recommends every few months — the mount is pulled off and re-pressed onto the shaft. After years of this repeated removal and reinstallation, the central bore strips out and the brush spins freely without engaging the motor. The side brush stops sweeping debris toward the main roller, noticeably reducing cleaning performance. iRobot does not sell this mount as a standalone part — only as part of a full corner brush module assembly at a significantly higher cost.
