Why These Knobs Break
They are small plastic knobs pressed onto thin metal levers that get worked through their full travel every time the mixer runs. The plastic splits at the socket and the knob drops off, leaving a bare metal lever that still functions but is awkward and sharp to use. Nothing mechanical or electrical has failed at that point, which is why a is the whole repair.
Compatible Models
Fits KitchenAid stand mixers using the large lever size, approximately 3/16" (4.76 mm) wide at the tip. Fit is determined by the lever, not by the model name on the mixer, so the measurement above is a far more reliable guide than a model list. Two things this does not fit: mixers with the small 1/8" lever, and the Professional 600 bowl-lift, whose speed lever is about 3.98 mm wide and would sit loose in this socket.
